Our Program

Our goal is to create a safe, responsive, child-oriented environment. We believe in treating children with dignity and respect. Children’s play is their work, and our role is to facilitate their play.

Our program is based on developmentally-appropriate expectations. We make available a diverse and flexible range of activities, including dramatic play, art projects, nature study, music, cooking and language games, as well as safety lessons, exercise and science.

For the toddler and preschool children, daily activities are planned for the week according to a theme. In addition, children go outside on a daily basis, if weather permits. We use a proven curriculum called creative curriculum


Our Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum® for Infants & Toddlers–provides a comprehensive framework that emphasizes that relationships between teachers, children and their families form the basis of curriculum for very young children.

The Creative Curriculum® for Early Childhood–describes and demonstrates how to plan a developmentally appropriate program focusing on ten well-organized interest areas. Its underlying philosophy draws from Jean Piaget’s work on cognitive development, Erik Erikson’s stages of socio-emotional development, and accepted theories of how children learn best. The approach is practical, easy-to-understand, and immediately applicable to a variety of settings.


Teaching Strategies Online Observations and Portfolio

Carol’s Tiny Tots uses Teaching Strategies GOLD, which is an “authentic, observational assessment system for children from birth through kindergarten.”

Literacy Program

Carol’s Tiny Tots participates in Raising A Reader, a wonderful program where children benefit from healthy brain development, family bonding, and increased literacy skills.


In spring 2018 the Raising a Reader program at Carol’s Tiny Tots received a new group of books to further the program thanks to the generosity of Fit to Fight Fitness & Self DefenseMahool Nance Realtors and many other friends and families.


Our Philosophy

Children have special and unique qualities and it’s our job as educators to assist with exploring and enhancing these talents. Education goes beyond the classroom. Education is nature, hygiene, cooking, playing, equality, nurturing and emotions. Education is environmental. For children everything is education so we must look at things through their eyes and understand that they are experiencing situations for the first time. I believe in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, open communication and participation from parents.

Age appropriate practices and materials are needed for nurturing children’s education. Using an easy and versatile curriculum that grows with children is an essential part of development, with focus on physical, social, language, motor and cognitive skills. Children discover the love of literacy, science, and arithmetic through action, cause and effect and observing each other.
